A welcoming party was held in Onnason, Okinawa, Japan, where Samsung held its spring camp. About 30 people, including Onnason chief and local officials, visited the Akama Stadium in Onnason, Okinawa Prefecture on Sunday.

Nagahama Onnason said, "Thank you for coming again this year. I hope you have a safe camp and hope you win this season."

Samsung has been holding its spring camp in Onnason since 2005. This year, Samsung had its first training camp in Guam and moved to Okinawa from May 5, where the second training camp began in earnest.

Onnason officials delivered local specialties and bouquets that had been prepared, and exchanged pleasantries with a welcome banner commemorative photo. In the club, coach Park Jin-man, head coach Chung Dae-hyun, and interim captain Lee Sung-kyu participated in the welcoming party.

Samsung coach Park Jin-man said, "I would like to thank Chief Onnason and officials for helping me concentrate on my exercise in a good facility. I was able to win the runner-up prize with good results last year, and I hope we can prepare well from here this year and share the joy."

Samsung is scheduled to play 29 days including actual matches against Korean and Japanese professional teams until the 5th of next month.

Notably, the team will play a practice game with NPB teams starting with the game against the Yomiuri Giants of Japan (June 16) and the Chunichi Dragons (June 19). The team will then play seven games with KBO League teams including the Hanwha Eagles (June 21), SSG Landers (June 25), KT Wiz (June 27), LG Twins (March 1) and KIA Tigers (March 2).

Of course, Samsung's goal in the spring camp is to win the Korean Series. Just as Coach Park Jin-man announced his goal, Samsung, which won the runner-up prize in the regular season and the runner-up prize in the Korean Series last season, is considered a strong opponent and a favorite to block Kia from seeking the unified championship for two consecutive years this year.
